The Building Department safeguards the health, safety and welfare of Suisun City residents, workers and visitors by effective administration and enforcement of city building codes, fire codes and ordinances. This is accomplished by technical review of plans and specifications for proposed projects, permit processing, field inspections, fire safety inspections and public information services related to new construction.
The Building Department works in concert with the Community Development and Public Works departments to carry out many of its duties.
The goal of the Building Department is to develop a partnership with property owners, business owners and developers to ensure quality construction and building maintenance to protect the overall quality of life in Suisun City.
The Chief Building Inspector serves both as the Chief Building Official and the Fire Marshall, as required by state law. The Chief Building Inspector also is responsible for the maintenance of public buildings and administration of the city's computer network.
